- The two main events are hyped a little as Jericho vs. Angle is for the WCW Title and Rock vs. Austin is the headliner for the WWF Title. Having never seen this, I am pumped.
Steel Cage Match for the Intercontinental Championship
Christian © vs. Edge
They busted out the classic 1980's steel cage for this match. I enjoyed it, but after seeing that they were facing, I set my standards too high and was a tad bit disappointed with this. It was better than their Unforgiven match, but not up to par with their Ladder Match which remains one of my favorite Ladder matches and the best in their series. By no means was it a bad, match, but the cage wasn't used enough but that's due to it's obvious unstability. Both men shined, and the finish was very original and awesome as Edge tied Christian's feet to the cage. ***
- They show footage of Kurt Angle's recent defection to the Alliance.
- Chavo and Hugh Morrus look to interview naked divas. Chavo had hair. It's breathtaking.
Scotty 2 Hotty vs. Hurricane Helms
Very good match between these two, proving that Scotty can actually go when he's not being squashed randomly. It'd be refreshing to see him used like that nowadays. Helms worked the back and neck area the majority of the match, hitting backbreakers, knees and neckbreakers and locked on a modified version of the camel clutch, using the arms to choke as well. Scotty did some excellent selling of the back during the match too. In the end, Scotty hit the Worm to pick up the win in an excellent, fast paced match. Definately PPV quality. ***1/2
- Chavo and Hugh sneak a peak of Lita while she's half naked and then get yelled at.
- DDP promo. He says that the people in "jolly ole England" aren't jolly, they're depressed. Thats not a bad thing, it's a good thing.
DDP vs. The Big Show
Poor DDP. The sad thing is that just when he was starting to make strides in WWE in 2002, faggot Bob Holly ended his career (sorta). DDP got in lots of offense in this match before falling prey to The Big Show. He even hit the Diamond Cutter out of nowhere, but it wasn't enough to keep the big man down. Wham, chokeslam, pin for the win. Post match, DDP said it wasn't a bad thing, it was a good thing because now he can get the hell outta England. *3/4
- Backstage, more Chavo and Morris madness ensues. They bust in on Molly, but she's fully clothed, yet screams anyway.
- The infamous Knights of the Round Table segment. I can't explain this in words, you just have to find a way to see this. As you'd expect from Austin and Angle, this was golden.
WCW Tag Team Championship
The Dudley Boyz © vs. APA vs. The Hardy Boyz
Not much to speak of, really. Think of the match at WrestleMania X8 except without Billy & Chuck. It was a Three Way Dance rules match, and Matt Hardy eliminated Faarooq. Spoilers for the ending basically as they played the music of the Dudleyz after the pinfall, despite the match not being over. Jeff Hardy went for the Swanton in the end, but missed. Matt was legal, got 3D and that was that. D-Von pinned to retain. Bleh match as all three teams were on their final legs at this point. **
- Recap from SD of Rock and Jericho losing the Tag Team Titles to Booker T and Test. Rock gave Jericho the Rock Bottom, and came back to the ring and gave him a second Rock Bottom.
- Backstage, Vince is sitting with Rock and Jericho. He tells them to bury the hatchet (damnit). He tells them to shake hands. They do. Rock: "No problems..." Jericho: "Good luck in your match, tonight. Try not to LOSE another big one again." They end up brawling anyway as refs break them up.
William Regal vs. Tajiri
This match could have been much more if given a little more time. A lot of action, but way too short. Only about 4 minutes. There was action, as I said, and Regal took a great beating. Tajiri chopped the living hell out of Regal's chest, leaving handprints galore across nips pectorial region. However, in the end, Tajiri missed a moonsault and Regal locked on the Regal Stretch to make Tajiri tap out. Post match, Regal celebrated a little too much and Tajiri nipped up to deliver the kick of death and spew green mist into his face. **
- Angle says that the fans in England look like they escaped from prison. Angle makes fun of Jericho's "Y2J" nickname in a promo that needed to be put on TV because it was great.
WCW Championship
Chris Jericho © vs. Kurt Angle
Angle is the United States Champ going into this match. From the start, a very exciting and fast paced match. These two seemed to mesh very well together. Lots of suplexes to go round in the beginning from both men. These two men, possibly the top 2 wrestlers ever, put forth a very great title bout. Not a dull moment at all. Good ending sequence to the match as Jericho locked on the Walls, Angle reversed, got bulldogged, but used knees to block the Lionsault. Angle went for the Angle Slam, but Jericho reversed it into a roll up to retain. Post match, Angle hit the Angle Slam on him for good measure. He picked him up and hit a second one just because he could. Excellent match, much better than their No Way Out 2000 match and this match makes me sad that we never saw a 'real' program between the two. ****1/2
- Michael Cole interviews The Rock backstage. Exciting, electrifying promo as always expected and delivered by Rocky. More speculation as to whether Cole is gay and stuff.
Molly & Stacy vs. Torrie & Lita
Special Referee - Trish Stratus
Heyman: "Lita and I wear the same style underwear." I think this is the most competitive Stacy has EVER been her entire time in the wrestling business. And Christ was she fucking hot (and still is). The best part about this is that Lita sucks in the ring now, Torrie is improving, Stacy was good here, but sucked when she left, and Trish ended up being the best between all the women involved in the match. Lita hit the Twist of Fate on Molly for the win. Decent womens match. Afterwards, Stacy bitches to Trish and pushes her. In return she gets the Stratusfaction. * (just to be fair)
WWF Championship
'Stone Cold' Steve Austin © vs. The Rock
This match should have main evented an actual PPV because it would have been a major sell. Intense describes this match and is definately one of their better encounters. Not as good as their WM 17 match, but definately a great one. It's a shame that about 5 people have seen it. It should be seen by more. The match had plenty of action both inside and outside of the ring, and Austin in particular took loads of punishment, being suplexed and backdropped multiple times on the steel staging area and the floor. In the ring, Austin had his fair share of dominance, as did The Rock. Per usual, Hebner takes a ref bump and Austin taps to the Sharpshooter, but it doesn't matter. In the end, Angle came down with a chair and nailed Rock. This brought out Jericho who attacked Angle with a chair. Rock thought it was Jericho who attacked him, and he attacks Jericho. Rock hits the Rock Bottom on Austin, ref is still out. Rock goes for the Peoples Elbow, Angle trips him, Austin gets up; Kick, wham, Stunner and wins the match to retain. Excellent, intense and awesome match. Post match, Angle and Austin hug. This match was better than their 1999 matches and their 2003 match, but not as good as WM 17 so that leaves it at ****1/4.
All in all, it felt like longer, but was only a 2 hour event. Somewhat like an extended Raw, but with more focus on matches than segments. Definately worth checking out via purchase or download. Both World Titles were defended in excellent matches, and then the IC Title match and Helms vs. Scotty were both very good. Some filler in between, but nothing TOO bad. I'll give it a 4.5/5 because I really enjoyed it.
