SD! - October 13, 2006

My Ratings:

Mr. Kennedy vs. Chris Benoit - **1/2
William Regal vs. Vito - *1/4
Rey Mysterio vs. Jamie Noble - *1/2
Hooligans & Jimmy Yang vs. Teachers Pets & Sylvan - **3/4
Lashley vs. Batista vs. Finlay - ***1/4

My Thoughts:

This was a decent show overall. It didn't (and wasn't expecting it to) top Raw, but it was definately better than ECW and Impact this week. I strongly question Kennedy losing the title to Benoit, but I am under the assumption that Kennedy is now going to Raw. I could be wrong though. Benoit gets another unneeded US Title reign so now, the only inevitable thing for him to do is feud with Regal and/or Finlay and give the US Title some prestige via excellent matches.

I guess Meltzer was wrong when he reported that Kane would be taking six months off, but SD strongly needed a Raw guy to make the jump and Kane being that man is excellent. MVP and Kane should have actually had a match, but they're probably saving it for next weeek.

Chavo/Rey will finally end next week, and in an I Quit match. I expect nothing short of brutality. If they don't deliver, I'll be disappointed again. Chavo's hair plugs are showing nicely by the way. Also, Jamie Noble deserves better than being squash fodder. Noble vs. Helms for the Cruiserweight Title! Book it now!

The main event was excellent and one of the better TV matches in the second half of the year. I was impressed by it but that may be just me. We get Booker vs. Batista next week, but I don't know who I want to win. I wanted Batista to regain the title, but I am enjoying Booker's run far too much to want him to lose it next week under zero hype. Batista will be hurt though if he loses another match to Booker, so I assume he'll (sadly) get the win.

Overall, good show and some decent action. I'll give it a 4/5.
